Delete your data
Here’s how to delete entries and request deletion of data held by DearDay. You can do this even if you no longer have the app.
Entries and reflections on your device
Open the entry or reflection in DearDay and use the delete option. To delete your entire local journal, clear the app’s data in Android. This content lives on your device: we cannot delete it remotely or recover it for you.
Request deletion of data held by DearDay
Email Erik van Eck at the address below with the subject DearDay deletion request. Tell us whether you want all data processed by DearDay deleted or only a particular part.
The app uses a random technical identity, not an email address you provide. We may therefore ask for additional information to identify your installation or purchase. Do not send journal content, passwords, device passcodes or complete identity documents.
What happens to your request?
We verify your request, identify the data associated with you and explain which data will be deleted or needs to be retained. A request may cover your technical cloud identity, consent records, optional usage statistics and associated technical or subscription data.
If a legal obligation or necessary investigation requires retention, we will explain why. Deletion may work differently for data no longer linked to your identity or data processed independently by another provider. Retention periods, including the recovery window for database backups, are set out in the privacy policy.
We generally respond within one month. If more time is legally permitted and necessary, we will let you know.
Your subscription does not stop automatically
A deletion request or uninstalling the app does not cancel DearDay Plus. Cancel your subscription separately through Google Play if you do not want it to renew.
